Prince Avenue

Prince Avenue Primary School is situated alongside the A127, known locally as Prince Avenue.
The School was opened in 1952 and celebrated its 50th birthday in April, 2002.

Originally the school site was divided between the Infants and juniors. During the mid 1980??ᬮ?묢s the two schools were amalgamated into a primary school. In 1994 the school applied for, and received Grant Maintained status. In 1996, the nursery unit was opened. In September 1999 the school became a foundation School, responsible for its own management but under the directives of the Local Education Authority.

The School is fortunate is having two halls (dining and gym/main hall). The main hall has a large stage, visitor??ᬮ?묢s balcony and is available for use by the local community. We have an art/clay room, well-equipped library, ICT suite, and additional PCs, together with an interactive whiteboard in each class base, all of which are networked. The school is fortunate to have two playgrounds and a large area of playing fields.

Clubs and Activities are an important part of the life of school and are organised during lunch times and after school hours. In order for our pupils to become active in the playground and progress onto clubs, we have many school club links with outside organisations. We have a variety of sports clubs including: Bench ball, football, cricket, skipping, basketball, sports hall athletics, and athletics, tag rugby, netball, rounder??ᬮ?묢s and dance mostly dependant on weather.

A Breakfast Club is available to all children from 8am in the morning where children, after breakfast can partake in games and activities. Fridays our SSCo delivers sports/multi skills session after breakfast.

Pupils have the opportunity to take part in District sports, inter school competitions, football & netball leagues and festivals all organised by the Southend East School Sports Partnership.

Statement: The Southend Primary Schools Sports Association are committed to the continual safeguarding of our children.
