Thorpe Hall School

Pupils at Thorpe Hall are given the opportunity to take part in a wide range of sporting activities throughout the year.  Experienced staff, complimented by excellent sports facilities, ensure pupils are engaged in physical education from the very moment they join.  The curriculum is creative and balanced providing lesson around both traditional and non traditional sports.

Units of study include football, rugby, cricket, hockey, netball, cross-country, rounders, softball, basketball, trampoline, athletics and dance. A weekly double lesson of swimming is also provided and in addition golf and the use of a local fitness club are made available for Year 11 pupils.

Each week there is a wide selection of extra activities that pupils can choose to do either before school, at lunchtime or after school. These activities include football, basketball, athletics, hockey, and a number of other clubs and societies that spring up as teachers find an enthusiasm and respond to it.

House and form competitions are organised and the swimming gala, sports day and cross-country are major events in the calendar.

Thorpe Hall has an excellent relationship with the Southend East School Sport Partnership, maintaining strongly links within the Southend Primary PE Assocation.  Both the Infant and Junior sectors compete successfully against other local Primary and Independent Schools.
