The events have changed slightly in line with the County Competition.


Track Events

Event: Obstacle Relay (4 Boys/4 Girls)

Hi Stepper = 1 foot in every space (0.5 seconds added for each space missed)
10 speed bounces (0.5 seconds added for each bounce missed)
Clear 2 hurdles
Turn on turn board
Sprint back avoiding obstacles
Turn on returnboard
Touch shoulder of next runner for takeover (1 second penalty if not touched correctly)
Last runner repeats the activity but after turning on the returnboard, sprints through the finish line.

Event: 1 + 1 Lap Relay (2 Boys/2 Girls)

Complete 1 lap each as quickly as possible

Event: 2 + 2 Lap Relay (2 Boys/2 Girls)

Complete 2 laps each as quickly as possible

Event: 6 Lap Paarlauf (2 Boys/2 Girls)

Complete 6 Laps in your pair as quickly as possible in your chosen order
e.g. Runner 1 = Lap 1,3,5 Runner 2 = Lap 2,4,6
or Runner 1 (stronger) = Lap 1,2,4,5 Runner 2 = Lap 3,6

Event: Over/Under Relay (4 Boys/4 Girls)

Continue over the hurdle
Under the tunnel
Over the hurdle
Turn on the turn board
Repeat course in opposite direction
Turn on returnboard
Tap next runner on the shoulder
The last runner repeats the activity but after turning on the returnboard sprints straight through the finish line

Event: 4x1 Lap Relay (4 Boys/4 Girls)

Start at finish line
Turn on the turn board
Sprint to returnboard
Turn on returnboard
Sprint to next team member
Last runner sprints through the finish line

Field Events - each requiring 3 Boys/3 Girls

Event: Chest Push

The ball is held against the chest with two hands
It must be pushed
Both feet must remain on the floor at all times
One foot may be in front of the other but your body must be stationary
Do not pass the throwing line during the throw
Measure from the point the ball touches the ball to the throwing line
The chest must face forward at all times
Each participant will have 3 attempts and their longest throw will be their final score

JUDGES: 1 standing at side of area observing distance with start of tape measure
1 standing at throwing line, calling peoples names to throw, measuring distance and recording
1 returning the ball (by rolling)

Event: Speed Bounce

Allow a trial before first jump starts
Each participant must complete as many bounces either side of the wedge in 20 seconds
Each participant will have 3 attempts and their highest number of bounces will be their final score
Both feet must touch each side of the mat for the bounce to count
The bounce is void if the participant lands on the wedge, they should be encouraged to restart as soon as possible
2 competitors (same school) will jump at a time

JUDGES: 1 central timing the children
1 counting per child (2 judges)
1 recording

Event: Standing Long Jump

Two footed jump from take off line from standing position
Measure from the take off line to where the back of the closest heel to the take off line landed
The participant may step forward after the jump, but if he/she falls back, the measurement is taken at the body part closest to the take off line
Encourage participants to bend their knees and swing their arms for lift

JUDGES: 1 at side of the tape accurately measuring the jump
1 recording results and calling names

Event: 5 strides
5 alternate strides

Event: Vertical Jump

Participant stands with their back, head and heels touching the wall
Both arms stretched upwards to push the scale up with the fingertips
Arms must be straight and touch the side of the head and feet must be flat on the floor
This measurement needs to be marked down
The participant then jumps from the standing position, touching the wall at the highest point
The measurement is recorded to the nearest centimetre
Subtract this distance from the original to find jump

e.g. original position 1m 65cm
jumps 2m 05cm
actual jump 40cm

1 measuring the distances

Event: Soft Javelin

The javelin is thrown from a standing position with both feet behind the throwing line and in contact with the floor.
The throw is measured from the front of the throwing line to where the tip of the javelin first makes contact with the ground.
The distance is measured in metres and always down to the nearest metre.
DO NOT allow the javelins to be thrown back to waiting athletes.

From standing position with the lead leg up to the take off line
Stand on one foot to begin with to ensure a hop starts the routine
Hop
Step to the other foot

The participant may step forward after the jump, but if he/she falls back, the measurement is taken at the body part closest to the take off line
Encourage participants to bend their knees and swing their arms for lift

Year 3/4 Girls Football

Summary
Arrival: 9.30 am Start: 9.45 am Finish: Approx 2.45 pm

The competition is a girls event only with up to 10 in a squad. The format will be 6 a-side.

Substitutions are roll on roll off, and can also be made at the half time turn around. (Please note this must be done quickly to prevent disruption to the competition schedule). A substituted player may return to the field again at a later point in the match.

Goalkeepers distribute the ball by throwing only. No kicking direct out of hand or half volley drop kicks. However, keepers may distribute onto the floor, and kick ball from the floor.

No pass backs are allowed.

No offside.

Goalkeepers are not allowed to pick up the ball outside the goalkeeping area (semi circle). If the goalkeeper does pick the ball up out of the area, a free kick shall be awarded to the opposing team.

Throw ins or corners shall take place if the ball passes over side or back line.

If a foul is committed outside the area the opposing team will be awarded a direct free kick.

If a foul is committed inside the area the opposing team will be awarded a penalty.

Glossary
Foul = An unfair act by one team player on another opposing player.

Penalty = A free kick from the spot in the area awarded for an unfair act by the opposition, or when the game rules have been broken.

Throw ins = Ball is thrown back into play when it has passed over the side line. Players must use two hands passing ball over head, and keeping both feet on the floor when distributing.

Corner kick = Ball is kicked from corner area towards opposition goal after it had been kicked out by opposition player.

ARRIVAL 9.30am START 9.45am ESTIMATED FINISH 12:00pm

Squad will consist of 10 players with 7 on the pitch at all times. On the pitch there should be at least 3 boys and 3 girls leaving the 7th person to be either gender. Shin pads are essential and gum shields are highly recommended.

Rules

- Seven a side
- 3 girls and 3 boys plus one
- 7 minutes in each half
- Substitutions are roll on roll off.

- No goalkeepers
- A coin will be tossed to decide who begins the game in possession of the ball.
A free hit will be awarded to the opposing team when =
- The ball makes contact with a players feet
- The ball is lifted above knee height
- Aggressive/ over enthusiastic tackling
- A player contacts the ball with the rounded side of the stick during play.
- The stick is raised above hip height during a pass/ shot or tackle.

- Players taking free hits may begin play by passing the ball to themselves or by passing to another player.
- Shots can only be made at goal inside the D
- Should the ball make contact with a defenders feet in the D, a free hit will be awarded outside of the D. There will be no Short corners.
- If the ball is prevented from entering the goal by a defenders foot on the goal line, a penalty goal will be awarded.
- All own goals within the D will count as a goal
- Should the ball be knocked off of the base line by the defending team, a long corner will be awarded to the attacking team. If it is knocked off by the attacking team, a hit out will be awarded to the defending team.
- If the ball travels over either sideline, a free hit will be awarded to the opposing team.
- Only one player may tackle the player with the ball at once.
- When a goal is scored, play will restart in the centre of the pitch with the ball being awarded to the non scoring team.
